The History of Kendall Barbers
Kendall Barbers has a long, interesting history dating back to the 1930’s.
The shop was originally located on Third Street in Cambridge, near what is now the Kendall Square MBTA station. In the 1970s, the shop moved to its first Main Street location.
In the 1980s, Kendall Square underwent a major transformation, as high-tech companies began to move into the area, attracted by its proximity to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
Kendall Barbers was one of the few businesses in the area that remained open during this time, and it became a popular spot for the engineers and scientists who worked in the nearby tech companies.
In 2019 Kendall Square underwent another major transformation and Kendall Barbers temporally closed its doors until 2021. It then re-opened into its brand-new Main Street location, across the street from its old location.
Over the years, Kendall Barbers has become a fixture in the community, and has been featured in numerous articles and television segments.
Today, Kendall Barbers continues to serve the local community, providing high-quality haircuts and shaves in a traditional barbershop setting.
The shop is known for its friendly atmosphere, skilled barbers, and its deep roots in the community.
